Story and world

The game is set in the fictional state of Leonida, inspired by Florida, with Vice City as its take on Miami. For the first time in the 3D-era main series, one of the protagonists is a woman, Lucia Caminos. Together with Jason Duval she forms a criminal duo reminiscent of Bonnie and Clyde.

What we know and what we don't

• The game launches only on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. A PC version has not been announced; with GTA V it came a year and a half later.
• Rockstar describes it so far as a single-player game. The shape of a new online mode is not officially confirmed.
• Analysts estimate development cost at more than a billion dollars.

Why it is such an event

GTA V sold over 200 million copies, and thirteen years passed between the two games. Rival studios moved their releases to avoid launching alongside GTA 6.
