No keyboard
Smartphones of the time had physical keyboards or resistive screens with a stylus. The iPhone had a capacitive screen that responded to fingers and gestures such as pinch-to-zoom. The first model had no 3G, no third-party apps and no copy and paste.
App Store
In July 2008 Apple opened the App Store. Developers could sell apps, and a new industry was born: Uber, Instagram, mobile games, mobile banking. The rival Android arrived the same year.
