2012Smartphones and the cloud

Slido

Slido is an app for questions and polls during presentations and conferences, created by a team in Bratislava in 2012. It was used by companies and big events around the world, and in 2021 it was bought by the American company Cisco.

An idea from a conference

The founders noticed that few people at conferences dare to ask a question out loud. With Slido people send it anonymously from their phone, and others can vote on which questions are the most interesting.

Growth during the pandemic

When meetings moved online in 2020, Slido grew rapidly. Companies used it for all-hands meetings and webinars.

A Slovak exit

The acquisition by Cisco is one of the biggest successes of Slovak startups, alongside ESET and other companies we write about in the article Slovak technology companies and startups.
