Parts
| Part | What it does | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Processor (CPU) | Computes everything | Socket must match the board |
| Motherboard | Connects all parts | Chipset, M.2 slots, size |
| RAM | Working memory | Very expensive in 2026, 32 GB is enough |
| Graphics card | Image and games | Affects gaming performance most |
| SSD | System and data | NVMe M.2, at least 1 TB |
| Power supply | Powers everything | Quality brand, spare wattage |
| Case and cooling | Airflow | Front fans intake, rear exhaust |
Steps
- Fit the processor, cooler and RAM on the board outside the case.
- Mount the power supply and motherboard in the case.
- Insert the SSD into the M.2 slot and the graphics card into the top PCIe slot.
- Connect board power (24-pin), CPU power (8-pin) and graphics card power.
- Connect the case buttons and fans.
- Power on, enter the BIOS, enable the memory profile (XMP or EXPO) and install the system.
Advice for 2026
- Memory and SSDs are expensive. Buy what you really need and leave free slots for later.
- For a cheaper build, a DDR4 platform makes sense.
- Don't skimp on the power supply. A cheap PSU can take other parts with it when it fails.
