Wiki
The word wiki means “quick” in Hawaiian. Ward Cunningham created the first wiki site in 1995. Wikipedia started as a companion to the Nupedia project, where articles were written by experts. The open version grew much faster.
How can it work?
Everyone can see every edit, the history is saved and vandalism is quickly reverted. The rule is to cite sources. Wikipedia has no ads and lives on donations.
Criticism
Not every article is of the same quality, and sensitive topics become battlegrounds of edits. For important matters it is a good idea to check the information in the cited sources. The same goes for our Mini Wikipedia.
