Why everyone remembers it
- Battery life of several days.
- Swappable covers in many colours.
- A ringtone composer and the game Snake.
- Toughness that became an internet meme.
Nokia at the top
Around 2000 Finland's Nokia was the world's largest phone maker. It did not manage the arrival of the iPhone and Android, and in 2014 sold its phone division to Microsoft. Today Nokia is one of the largest suppliers of network technology to operators.
Comeback
In 2017 the 3310 returned in a modernised version with a colour screen. Simple button phones still sell as “dumbphones” for people who want less screen time.
