Bertha Benz
In August 1888, without telling her husband, Bertha Benz took the car and drove with her sons from Mannheim to Pforzheim to see her mother. On the way she bought fuel at a pharmacy, cleared a fuel line with a hairpin and had the brakes repaired by a shoemaker. She proved that the car was usable.
A car for everyone
In 1913 Henry Ford introduced the moving assembly line. The time needed to build a Model T fell from more than 12 hours to an hour and a half, and even the workers who built the car could afford one.
Slovakia, cars and electronics
In Slovakia cars are built by Volkswagen in Bratislava, Stellantis in Trnava, Kia near Žilina and Jaguar Land Rover in Nitra. A Volvo plant near Košice is on the way. A modern car contains dozens of computers, and software matters as much as the engine. The future belongs to electric cars.
