A dolls' house
Will Wright, the creator of SimCity, came up with the idea after a fire destroyed his house and he had to furnish everything from scratch. At first the publisher did not believe anyone would be interested in a “digital dolls' house”.
Simlish
The characters speak an invented language called Simlish, so the game did not have to be translated and everyone could imagine what they were talking about. Versions of well-known songs have even been recorded in Simlish.
Mods
Players create their own clothes, furniture and houses. The Sims is proof that games do not have to be about fighting and winning.
